Rental
car companies depend on the millions of airline travelers that need
ground transportation once they reach their destinations. Unfortunately,
leisure travel has slowed down considerably, leaving rental car companies
with huge fleets of vehicles unrented.
Once several keen dealers learned about the troubles the rental companies
were facing, they have spent the last few weeks attending several of
the dealer-only auctions where these vehicles were being sacrificed
for unbelievably low prices. Now these vehicles will be offered for
sale with the thousands of dollars in savings
being passed on to the public.
Why are these cars such a bargain? Automotive industry watchdog Jeremy
Jackson explains, Rental car returns
represent one of the best values available to used car shoppers today
for a variety of reasons. Because they buy in such volume,
rental car companies save thousands of dollars from the manufacturer.
Now, when you combine that with how badly they needed to rid themselves
of this inventory, it's a win-win situation for everybody. Dealers buying
up these excess inventories help the rental guys, and since the dealers
are able to purchase them for pennies on the
dollar, that helps the dealers. And last but not least, car
buyers will benefit as these savings are passed
on to customers.
Lower prices are just one part of what makes these vehicles such a great
value. As you might expect, these vehicles
have been well maintained by the rental car companies, often
exceeding factory recommended service schedules.
Jackson adds Plus, since these vehicles were taken out of service
early, many are still under factory warranty,
have extremely low
miles and are in great condition.
Selection is another reason bargain hunters should check out this event,
says Jackson. Rental car companies have to offer their customers
a variety of vehicles to choose from: minivans,
luxury cars, sport utility vehicles, convertible sports cars, family
sedans and even trucks. All of these are being made available
at the rental car auctions. Now, dealers have the best selections they've
ever had, including many hard to find hot selling models. Honda
Accords, Toyota Camry sedans, Ford Explorers, Dodge minivans, Chevy
Silverados - all the hottest makes and models are available
during this event. ( Jackson notes selections varies per dealer. Shoppers
should use the search
funtion located in this web site to find what is available in their
particular area. )
